Project 6
Applying easy-to-use motion capture systems with real-time data sampling and feedback display to improve prevention and treatment in work-related MSD
Knowledge of loads acting on the joints and spinal discs is important to ensure evidence-based prevention and treatment of WMSD. However, in clinical practice the exact loads acting in the body of a patient cannot be considered since they are neither directly perceivable by the patient nor directly visible to the physician or therapist. Therefore, subproject 6 aims at the further development and evaluation of an easy-to-use motion capture system for evidence-based assistance in the field of prevention and treatment of WMSD. The assistance system enables the real-time sampling and visualization of human joint points as well as the calculation of resulting states such as body posture and joint loading. Overall, subproject 6 will provide results on the conditions under which the assistance system can be applied sustainably in operational and clinical practice. To ensure a comprehensive translation of all relevant results of workHEALTH, the findings of the other subprojects will also be implemented for application in the assistance system. By the end of the project, the regulatory requirements will have been clarified and the necessary data will be available to carry out a clinical study with the easy-to-use motion capture system application.
